DeLonghi Citiz Nespresso – I’ve been converted

Some friends of mine recently purchased a DeLonghi Citiz Nespresso machine to use in their holiday house. And although I was incredibly sceptical of Nespresso machines, I was chosen as a test subject to try out a few of the ‘free’ pods that came with the machine. The first coffee I tried was a “Roma”, which I think is rated at about 5/10 on the Nespresso strength scale. It was nowhere near strong enough for me, and I quietly continued my scepticism. The next coffee I had changed my mind completely. I had a long macchiato made with a Nespresso Ristretto capsule, and it was possibly the best ‘home made’ coffee I’ve ever had. As a hard core fan of stovetop espresso, it’s painful for me to confess that I am now a total convert to Nespresso. The Nespresso Citiz milk heater/frother is a marvel of design and more importantly engineering. I’m trying to resist the urge to buy one, but I think I’ll eventually have to give in.
