The best thing you can do for any sleeping bag is use a sleeping bag liner inside it. You can go crazy and spend big money for a top of the line “hiking” liner, or (like me), you can do the smart thing and buy a synthetic silk fiber sleeping bag liner for $6 from Vietnam. Two things that the Vietnamese totally excel at is making French baguettes, and making beautiful silk(ish) products for next to nothing. The Vietnamese sleeping bag liner that I received is absolutely fantastic, it doesn’t have a single loose thread, and folds down smaller than a DVD case. And it was $6!!! Sleeping bag liners are not only great for keeping your sleeping bag clean (and increasing their thermal rating), but also excellent if you’re sleeping in overseas hostels etc where you don’t trust the cleanliness of the provided linen.
